TreeVitalize or DIE!

The wheels of progress are churning! I am hoping that I can get some foot soldiers to help me with a Fall 2009 planting along Perrysville Avenue in OHNO. Following is a thread of thoughts + next steps. Cheers, Balloonpopper Chillingsworth

Pittsburgh Urban Forest contacted me and said my best route is through Treevitalize. I have calls into Western PA Conservancy and Lisa Ceoffe at the City. Apparently, there are some property owner issues. I would be happy to work w/ Marijke (WPC) and the City to mitigate these issues. Trees would make the gateway into the Northside so much better.

Just got off the phone with Marijke at TreeVitalize and I think we have a plan:

1. Identify sites for 10-25 trees;
2. Have City Forester visit sites to determine eligibility;
3. Acquire permission slips from property owners;
4. Prepare Application for March 31, 2009 submission;
5. Organize Fall 09 tree planting.

The one caveat is I need to get at least 2-3 more people ensnared as TreeTenders. If we can get the bodies in that role we can get a lot of very cool mature trees to dot Perrysville Avenue. I am hoping we can create a cool allay of trees which would act as a green entrance to the city's north portal.

Marijke is a good friend of ours. Working with her would be a joy!. You do know that Jeff works for the WPC - right? I would love to be a tree tender and a bar tender too!
